The Castle and grounds are open from 25th March to 26th October 2018 , 10am until 5:00pm Sunday to Friday

How accessible is the castle?

The ground floor of the Castle is accessible to wheelchair users and electric scooters. A wheelchair is available for loan, whilst in the Castle only. The tractor/trailer has a ramp and the Walled Garden Play Area & Pets Corner is accessible, although there are some steep slopes. The Courtenay cafe is accesible, however the Gift Shop is not. Disabled parking and toilets are available in the Courtyard.

Where do we park?

We have a free car park, which is located down the main drive, over the bridge and on your left.

Disabled parking is also available in the courtyard.

Can i bring a group to Powderham?

Yes, please visit our Group page. 

A reduced rate is offered to groups of 15 or more.

Can you take Photographs?

You can take as many photographs as you like outside, but photography is not allowed inside the Castle.

Do you have to take a guided tour?

Yes, you can only see inside the castle with a guide. 

We do however offer Open House inside the castle at 4:00 -5:00pm between 23rd July and 1 September. (Ground floor only)

How long does the tour take?

The Tour lasts about an hour.

Where can we eat?

We have our Courtenay cafe, in the courtyard which is open from 11am until 4:30 (last orders are at 4:15) Please take a look at our menu.

Alternatively you could picnic in the grounds.

Can we wander around the gardens for free?

Unfortunately not.

No, Powderham Castle is a privately owned stately home.

How do we validate our tickets for the free return?

 If you have bought a full priced ticket, then get your ticket validated at the Gift Shop or Welcome Hut. This will allow you to return within 7 days for free. (Children may take part in the themed activity on their return for a small charge of £3.00)
