what are your opening times?
The Castle and grounds are open from 1st April to 27th October 2017, 11am until 4:30pm Sunday to Friday, we are closed on Saturdays and sometimes close for private functions.
What days are the castle closed?
We are closed on Saturdays and between November and March, we are also closed on 6th/8th/15th October
Do you allow dogs?
NEW FOR 2017. You are very welcome to bring your dog with you to Powderham Castle on a lead. Dogs may access all areas except the Deer Park and the Walled Garden. We simply ask owners to kindly clear up after their dog, using the dog waste bins provided. Dog Admission is £1. Guide dogs are welcome.
How accessible is the castle?
The ground floor of the Castle is accessible to wheelchair users and electric scooters. A wheelchair is available for loan, whilst in the Castle only. The tractor/trailer has a ramp and the Walled Garden Play Area & Pets Corner is accessible, although there are some steep slopes. The Courtenay cafe is accesible, however the Gift Shop is not. Disabled parking and toilets are available in the Courtyard.
Where do we park?
We have a free car park, which is located down the main drive, over the bridge and on your left.
Disabled parking is also available in the courtyard.

A reduced rate is offered to groups of 15 or more.

Do you offer any discounted tickets?
50% Discount is offered for National Trust and English Heritage members. Simply show your membership card on arrival.(full priced Admission only. Not to be used in conjunction with any other offer.)
What are your tour times?
Our guided tour times between 23rd July and 1st September are: 11:15am/12:00pm/12:45pm/1:30pm/2:30pm/3:30pm. The last tour on a Friday is at 2:30pm.
The tour meets either in the Gift Shop or the Courtyard, the tour lasts about an hour.
Can you take Photographs?
You can take as many photographs as you like outside, but photography is not allowed inside the Castle.
When do your Deer Park Safari's run?
Wednesday & Thursdays at 1:45pm, subject to weather and ground conditions.
Do you have to take a guided tour?
Yes, you can only see inside the castle with a guide.
We do however offer Open House inside the castle at 4:00 -5:00pm between 23rd July and 1 September. (Ground floor only)
How long does the tour take?
The Tour lasts about an hour.
Where can we eat?
We have our Courtenay cafe, in the courtyard which is open from 11am until 4:30 (last orders are at 4:15) Please take a look at our menu.
Alternatively you could picnic in the grounds.
Can we wander around the gardens for free?
We now offer a grounds only ticket for those not wishing to see inside the castle.
Are you a National Trust property?
No, Powderham Castle is a privately owned stately home.

How do we validate our tickets for the free return?
If you have bought a full priced ticket, then get your ticket validated at the Gift Shop or Welcome Hut. This will allow you to return within 7 days for free. (Children may take part in the themed activity on their return for a small charge of £3.00)
